Do You Hear the People Sing

Do You Hear the People Sing? on teema, joka toistuu kahdesti musikaalissa Les Misérables. Ensimmäisessä inkarnaatiossaan se on Pariisin kapinallisten köyhien taistelulaulu ensimmäisen näytöksen loppupuolella. Toisen kerran se esiintyy koko musikaalin lopussa, ja silloin se saa minut nyyhkyttämään. Ennen kaikkea jälkimmäisestä syystä valitsin rivin koko blogini otsikoksi. (Viimeistään kohta "The chain will be broken and all men will have their reward" sulattaa minut melkein nytkin.)

Agnostikkokapitalistiksi minua miellyttää ihmeen paljon kristillinen rivi musikaalissa, jonka sankarit ovat sosialisteja ;D Mutta tässä ei kai ole mitään uutta. (Sitä paitsi sosialismi oli mielekästä 1800-luvun alun Ranskassa! Barrikadeille vain, jee! 2000-luvun Suomi on toinen maailma.)
